Rah Rah for the Home Team
I have the Grace in red already. This purple version, exclusive to Rivertrail, has a completely different personality -- more thoughtful, more giving, more joyous. As with the red version, every single detail of the purple works harmonically and tonally. In person, the leather is not the electric shade pictured, but more of a weathered lilac and the boot pulls on my pair are a slightly darker, polished purple. I like the deeper-colored boot pulls as they add depth to the look of the sides of the boots. Surprise: the red hearts sit there peaceably in middle ground -- definitely in residence, definitely the power behind the throne, but not taking over as you might think. It's the exuberant plumes issuing from the top of the hearts, the cloud-like pillows of bone and taupe flowers that cushion the hearts, and the bronze and copper wings achieving liftoff that you notice first. The remaining ornamental embroideries in grey, taupe, bronze and copper appear more as shaded textures than colors. So rather than coming at you with the brass band, Purple Grace reels you in. I love that too. Comfort? Top of the scale. These slide on like butter and feel like they've been designed, not just for the foot, but for YOUR feet. The workmanship is superb. The only thing that puzzles me is the rubber heel caps on my pair are sheared in at the outer edges. Mishap at the factory, no doubt. Otherwise I am over the top stoked with this purchase. Thanks so much, guys. Another home run!
