Milestone purchase for me

I’ve never spent this much on footwear (nor even ordered shoes online before) so I really worried that I wouldn’t like them or they wouldn’t fit. I needn’t have worried! At first I was dismayed that the color described as “turquoise” looked more like traffic-light green than blue-green. But these boots are just so breathtakingly gorgeous that I forgave them that! Leather (goathide?) seemed a bit dry so I gave them a coat of mink oil and all the colors really pop now. The stitching is beautiful, very well done. As for fit, they ‘re true to size. I wear an 8 1/2 but sometimes have to get a 9 for a wide enough toe. There’ s adequate room in the toebox now, after they break in it should be a little looser. They fit just snug enough in the heel too. Getting them on and off is a bit tricky because of the extremely tall shaft, which I expected, but also because the metal studs obstruct the pulltabs, which I didn’t expect. It’s nearly impossible to work a finger into either one, so I made a set of boothooks out of welding rod to cope with that. I’ve only worn them for around 10 hours so can’t say much about comfort yet. I knew the higher heels would throw my weight forward, not great for my knees and lower back, but I don’t think they’re any different than other boots I’ve worn with the same height heel. As you’d expect in this price range, there’s nothing sharp poking out of seams or sole inside either. Overall my initial impression is I definitely got my money’s worth, and they should last for years if I take good care of them.
