Love Old Gringo in general (own 4 pair now) and these cute lil' boots in particular. So cute and so comfy!! Love the colors of gold, burgundy, and army green on the warm weathered brown leather. I really like how they vine around the side of the foot of the boot! These boot are true to size and fit comfortably right out of the box. I think the snip toes and the embroidery take these boots to another level. Easy to dress up or down. Well worth the full price but finding them on sale was truly a bonus!! I say don't hesitate on these! You wont be sorry!!
10 years was worth the wait
I saw these boots many years ago and fell in love. I’ve wanted to purchase them all these years, and was finally able to thanks to the sale. They are beautiful. Completely worth the price and the wait. These are my first cowboy boots, and I want to buy a spare pair to have for years to come. My shoe size varies between 6.5 to 7.0. I bought the 7 and they fit beautifully, though not with thick socks. I love them.
Lovely, lovely, lovely!
This boot has one of the best balanced asymmetric designs I've seen out of Old Gringo. The autumnal colors of the blossoms -- gold, dark beige, warm browns, copper and rust flow beautifully through the spaces, interspersed with intertwining vines, stems, and leaves of spruce green and sage. Sprinkles of smaller blossoms add artful punches of softness that give an added illusion of depth. More sprinkles of blossom and vine appear at the back counter with tendrils lazily arcing their way forward across the side of the vamp. The instep and sides of the shaft are left free of embroidery to allow the rest of the design to breathe. I particularly like how the large flowers, front and back of the shaft, spill outward from their centers with wavy abandon, like pinwheels. They reach forward and backward to create an additional starburst design when you look at this boot in profile. I don't find the boots that comfortable -- which is not my usual experience with OG's -- but the addition of cushioned insoles is helping. I feel totally zen -- serene and calm when wearing these kicky boots.
Very pretty boots - runs big
I've been wanting these boots for a year. I have three other pairs of boots (Corral and Ariat) all are size 9. The Old Gringo Ellie boot in a 9 was much too big. I had to ship it back and get an 8 1/2. I did not realize that Old Gringo run large. I'm very happy with my purchase now that I have the correct size. Rivertrail Mercanitle was very good working with me on the exchange. Just wish I'd known sooner to order a 1/2 size smaller so I could start wearing my cute boots sooner!

Cute & comfortable
After a long search for my first pair of cowboy boots, I have found the perfect pair. I first saw these on the Old Gringo website so shopped around online. River & Trail Mercantile had the best price AND I lucked out because when I finally decided to take the plunge & order them, they happened to be on sale. I have muscular calves and have had trouble finding ones that fit well. After reading reviews, I decided to order my normal shoe size, 8.5. The 9" shaft proved to be the perfect length for me and have been incredibly comfortable straight out of the box. The leather is slightly more golden than I expected from the pictures, but I am still very happy with my purchase. Love the embroidery, too -- especially the back!
Fabulous boots
I love these boots so much I had to resist the urge to sleep in them the night of their arrival. They are the perfect pair of everyday boots, and will go with just about anything. They are amazingly comfortable right out of the box, too.
The embroidery is beautiful, and the leather quality is very high, and I am thrilled with this purchase.
Once they were back in stock they shipped and arrived very quickly.

I am something of an Old Gringo "addict", for some reason their leather smells particularly heavenly. This pair marks my 5th pair of Old Gringo boots, the second pair I purchased from Rivertrail Mercantile. I live in Texas, so there are many big name boot chain stores right in my backyard but I chose to take a chance and order online from an unknown privately owned business. The first time I did so because I could not find a particular style in my size anywhere local, and while the boots are beautiful, the experience was not. The next time I encountered this problem (Old Gringo does not mass-produce, a quality that is both good and bad), I ended up on Rivertrail Mercantile's website. I will never buy Old Gringo's from another retailer again, I can tell you that! They have by far the biggest selection of styles I have ever seen, anywhere! And I live in the capital of Texas, ya'll! That order was the Snake Boots, and there are no words for those boots that do them justice. But this review is about the Ellie in Brass Yellow (Ellie happens to be my childhood nickname, by the way), because when I decided I wanted some short brown boots to wear with straight jeans, I came here FIRST. I found the Ellie boot very quickly as I had seen the style in a local boot chain store, but that didn't stop me from looking through every page. These people are the nicest business owners I have ever dealt with, seriously. If you are on this site looking for Old Gringo's, and you are wary of being scammed or sent knock-offs like I was, do not worry for one second. Such nice people who really care about your satisfaction. I ordered these boots and they arrived two days later, literally less than a full 48 hours! When I pulled them out of the box, I was surprised to see that they were a little bit different than the Ellie styles I have seen at local stores. That is why I said they were even better than I had expected. They have these tiny delicate little flowers where other Ellie styles have nothing. I love them, my husband says he loves these boots more than the three pairs of black and one pair of red Old Gringo boots I already owned. Ladies, you know the fancier styles we tend to wear more for each other-- we like to impress and one-up the women around us (come on, you know it's true). These boots are rugged with just the right amount of feminine, just the way our men like us. Trust me!

They are so cute -- was nervous about the fit -- I have small wide feet - so was nervous they would be too tight -- actually they fit great -- they are size appropriate - I wear a size 6 normally and bought a size 6 boot. I live in FL and wanted boots to wear w/ shorts in the winter - and they are perfect. I got compliments the first day I wore them out!

I LOVE my new Old Gringos! I have wanted a pair of Old Gringos for years and finally bit the bullet. Well worth the money! No break in period for these beauties. And they are beautiful. They are comfortable and have a soft, supple leather. Great colors that will go with almost anything in my wardrobe.

I needed a boot that was not tall, so these are just the right height for me 5'3"'...the leather is perfect, I can see it with black and brown...the flowers are large and make a statement....I opened the box and said..."perfect". put them on an went for a walk...I love my boots!!!
short & sweet
I was looking for a nice pair of casual boots to wear with shorts and dresses in the summer, and these are PERFECT! The shorter height make them feel cooler and the colors are beautiful but neutral enough to wear with anything! I threw them on this morning with a t-shirt and shorts to run errands and they looked amazing! Thanks again!!
